Day 57: Another Beer Bill

HB 2436 was filed yesterday by Rep. Eddie Rodriguez. You can read the text of the bill here.

This bill essentially accomplished what HB 660 tries to, except for production breweries and not brewpubs. HB 2436 would allow Texas microbreweries to sell to consumers at the brewery for either on or off-premise consumption.

HB 2436 is a good bill and as a member of the industry (who would be unaffected) I support it as well.

Also noteworthy, HB 660 has a Co-Author. Rep. John Garza (R-San Antonio) has joined the fight. Make sure you thank him for his support of Texas Beer Freedom!

  1. Isn’t this basically the same thing as
HB 602? They both will allow a brewery to sell their product to the ultimate consumer, so where do they differ?

    • They are a little different. HB 602 allows a brewery to give beer away for free to the consumer to take home at the end of a tour.

This bill would basically allow a brewery to sell you a pint to drink at the brewery, or packaged beer to take home.
